Now more than ever, during the holiday season, we all want to be closer to our loved ones and spend more time with them. Many of us, unfortunately, will not be allowed this luxury, as some of our loved ones are the very same men and women in uniform who protect us from afar. Many individuals will have to spend the holidays alone while fighting for our values away and abroad.
Samantha Haddon understands this all too well.
The mom was being honored by the Houston Texans organization in last Sunday’s game. During halftime, they brought her and her baby son Braxton onto the field to receive recognition and a game ball. Haddon is the wife of Army Specialist Robert Haddon, Houston native, and they were accepting the honor on his behalf, as Haddon was station in South Korea during the game.
Or was he?
The stadium broadcaster directs everyone’s attention to a video message by Haddon, where he sends his regrets for not being there with his family.
But then Haddon says, “Actually, wait right there.”
The crowd begins to cheer, and Samantha turns around to see her husband jogging toward her.
The mom was so shocked that she practically dropped her baby as she made to run toward her beloved husband.
She leapt into his arms and the two embraced as an entire football stadium cheered them on.
Texans cheerleaders then brought Braxton into the fold, with mom saying, “I’m sorry! Look, it’s Daddy!”
