With perseverance and determination, anything is possible though for many people, their own worst enemy is themselves.
“I was somebody that wassitting on the couch and say theres no way that’s possible,”saidEric Dick, a high school special education teacher from Louisville, KY.
One year ago, Dick was seeking the courage to change his life. At 352 pounds, he suffered from liver and kidney failure, and even lacked the energy to play with his two daughters.
It was then that he saw an ad for a contest from the owners of By Any Means Fitness. Trainer Djuan and Jordan Means launched the contest with simple terms: submit a video entry on why you should win afull year of free personal training.
The public quickly voted Dick’s video as the winner, and he embarked on his quest to make a lifestyle change.
“When you watch Eric’s video, you can see how passionate he is, how serious he was to change his lifestyle,” Djuan Means said.
One year later, Dick did just that. He lost over 100 pounds, anda recent trip to the doctor gave him great news: he no longer had to be on medication for his failing kidneys.
“I’m definitely grateful. I didn’t know something like this was possible,” he said through tears.
Dick plans to continue training and hopes to live a better lifestyle.
